Layal has been a practicing clinician for over ten years, delivering client centered, evidence- based treatment to families, couples, and individuals experiencing a wide range of challenges including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stress, work related stress, separation and divorce, family of origin issues, and grief and loss.
In addition to completing her Masters specializing in Couple and Family Therapy, Layal has received training from the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, as well as in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Layal works from an attachment framework in her practice that highlights attachment as the basis of all relationships and emphasizes the connection between neurobiology and attachment. She uses EFT, CBT, and mindfulness as modalities to guide the rewiring of healthy attached brains with clients.
Layal has spent the last several years of her career serving the Canadian Armed Forces community by overseeing the mental health and wellness program for CAF families in the National Capital Region and is well versed in military lifestyle challenges, including deployments, postings and Operational Stress Injuries. Along with her clinical practice, Layal has vast knowledge in leading, developing, and presenting workshops for organizations, universities, hospitals, government organizations, schools and school boards, and private sector companies on various topics related to mental health.
