Assistive Therapy Dog (Qualifying)
Kona Coast Matheson (referred to as Kona) is one of the most popular clinicians on the Child In Mind team. Kona is a professionally trained English Mini Golden Doodle. Kona is 4yrs old.
Kona is in the final stages of pursuing her designation as an Assistive Therapy Dog with the Companion Paws program. She works full-time in the office, unless she wants the day off, at which point she stays home to have a nap. Kona is highly skilled and trained in offering therapy support to the children and families in our clinic in the form of visits, pets, love and doing tricks (if someone is needing a laugh). Her temperament is calm and quiet.
Kona understands the needs of the families in the office and is aware that not all clients visiting the clinic are comfortable with her services, and that some may even be a bit weary of dogs. In these cases, she uses these opportunities to have naps in another room, or visit with one of the other clinicians in the office.
Kona is hypoallergenic, professionally trained, and brings joy to our team and families. She spends most of her workday with Dr. Matheson, but tries her best to say hello to everyone.
