Dr. Colleen Scott, C.Psych

Dr. Colleen Scott, Psy.D. graduated with a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Pacific University in Oregon, USA , and has been a licensed psychologist for 15 years. Prior to Child in Mind, Dr. Scott worked at a community mental health agency for children and families as well as in private practice.

Dr. Scott has experience providing psychotherapy to children, families, and adults with a wide variety of presenting challenges. Her specialty areas of focus include complex trauma, parent-child attachment, grief/loss, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and developmental concerns. Dr. Scott additionally has specialty training in early childhood mental health (ages 0-5) and working with foster/adopted children.

Dr. Scott’s approach to therapy is from a developmental and attachment perspective that considers the unique characteristics and strengths of every child and family. She works collaboratively with her clients to identify areas of growth and uses interventions aimed to improve relationships, positive behaviours, and emotional wellbeing. She has training in art and play therapy and often uses these creative approaches in her work. Dr. Scott additionally provides psychological and learning assessments to children ages 3 - 12. Her evaluations focus on identifying learning and/or developmental concerns as well as cognitive functioning strengths and areas of growth. Dr. Scott enjoys helping kids understand how their brains work and using information from assessments to guide interventions across settings (such as school, medical, or developmental services).
