Andrea Robertson

MSW

Andrea Robertson, BA, MSW, holds an honours B.A. degree in Psychology from Queen’s University and a Master of Social Work degree from Carleton University. Andrea is a Registered Social Worker with the College of Ontario Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Andrea’s ten year clinical practice aims to strengthen relationships within families. She works collaboratively with children, adolescents and caregivers to explore and resolve emotional and relational challenges using evidence based, current treatment approaches that are personalized to address each family’s unique circumstances. Andrea has an empathetic, open minded, playful and enthusiastic therapeutic style that helps children, teens and parents feel safe, understood and at ease during the session. Andrea’s areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, ADHD, ODD, social anxiety, behavioural difficulties, school concerns, parent coaching, parent-child or parent-teen relationships, grief and loss, gender identity and sexual orientation issues.

She has experience working with Military families and she is knowledgeable about military lifestyle challenges, including deployments, postings and Operational Stress Injuries.

Training: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Collaborative Problem Solving Tier I and Tier II, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), and Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS), Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC): Trauma in Treatment for Children and Adolescents, Road to Mental Readiness (R2MR).
